On our Northern Italian wine tour, we visited San Danielle, where we bought this 2003 bottle of Pignolo from Livon Winery. We ended up choosing this wine after asking for something local, interesting, and unique. Pignolo is an Italian varietal primarily found in the Friuli-Venezia wine region in Northern Italy. A very dark grape, it is often used in cuvées for its hue. Livon Winery can be found in Friuli in the northeastern tip of the boot. …

I found this wine on a wine list at one of Pécs’s trendier restaurants. I heard of this name before and it was easy to rembember as it's kind of a comical (Bodri is the typical Hungarian name given to dog). At first, I didn’t know what to think of the name, but then I found out that „Bodri” was the name of the owner, Bodri István. If anyone is unfamiliar with this winery, it can be found in the Szekszárd wine region. ...

I have to admit, there are quite a few of good wines that come from the Balaton wine region. I found three in particualr from Konyári’s that have become my favorites this summer. Only a 15-minute bike ride from Balatonlelle, you are already at Kishegy, and if you go straight up the hill without turning left, you’ve already found yourself at Konyári’s winery.
